I’m not quite ready to look at Hemlock yet, or to work on pinning out the edges. That’s ok though, it’s not quite ready to be moved yet either – it’s still a bit damp.
I plan to finish the last few rows of my February Dishcloth (I have maybe 7 rows to go – I was too focused on finishing Hemlock this weekend so it got left by the wayside) and to either work on the one row scarf that’s been lonely lately, or to read for awhile before bed.
Back in March of last year (Holy! that long ago?) I bought Valerie Bertinelli’s book – mainly because I am a huge EVH fan and wanted to get a glimpse of what their marriage had been like. Somehow other books piled on top of it in the “too read” pile, and of course there was the whole time shortage thing and all of a sudden, it’s this many months later and I still haven’t read the book.
Last week sometime, I heard an interview with her, and some of the things she was discussing resonated with me. I decided to dig out the book and move it to the top of my pile.
I have my last dentist appointment tomorrow
for awhile so likely I’ll be bringing it along for the ride. I also will likely skip work in the morning and go straight to the appointment. It’s a 9:15 appt. I’m usually at work at 7 and it’s only 20 minutes-ish away but sometimes, it’s ok to play a little hooky. I’ll go in after the work is done. I don’t think I can say enough good about this guy – after all the jaw issues and 2 surgeries, I need a dentist who gets it, and finally, I found one in NC who does.
And now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to enjoy some downtime.

After a very uncomfortable day yesterday, I am feeling MUCH better today. I still haven’t had much sleep but the pain I had yesterday is 90% gone and I think by tomorrow I should be back to “normal” – whatever the heck that is.
I spent the day at home, but have nothing to show for it. I couldn’t focus on much of anything other than reading (the position I had to sit/lay in to get any relief was not conducive to knitting, at all. I tried.) so I tore thru the soon to be released Knit Two by Kate Jacobs – the follow up to Friday Night Knitting Club. It was nice to spend time with familiar characters again. Much like the 1st book (and her other book Comfort Food) Ms. Jacob’s writing style makes for a quick and enjoyable read. It’s due for release in November, and if you enjoyed the 1st one, you’ll want to grab this one too. (and if you haven’t, now’s a great time. You can finish it before the next one is out!)
I’ve got a few other books queued up, but I’m not sure which one I will grab next. I seem to be reading (fiction) in bursts these days and every time I start up again, I wonder why I waited so long in between. If anyone has any recommendations, I’m always open for suggestions, so please share!
I’ve been good about my posting, and now I’m about to take a few days off. I will be away for the weekend and while I will have my laptop with me (work necessitates that, I may need VPN access) I don’t plan on using it unless I need to. I will be back on Monday though, with knitting updates, and maybe even some travel purchases (because everyone knows that much like sock yarn, yarn purchased on vacation doesn’t count!)
Happy weekend

So happy it’s Friday!
Not so much because I have such amazing plans for the weekend (because I really don’t) just looking forward to kicking back, knitting (yay continental!), and reading. The Knitting Sutra book that Knit Steph sent me (reminds me, I have to go “catch it” on Bookcrossings), the copy of the Knit Zine Take Back the Knit came from Jae, AND the copy of Knitting Heaven and Earth I ordered from Amazon all arrived today (YAY) so I have plenty to read too.
I was assigned my secret pal from the Felted Bag KAL group today too. Since Knitters Review has changed the sign up policy, I was hoping Id find another one to join (even though I am in KRSP3, I dont have enough posts to join the next one. Ah well. I still have the bimonthly KRSP3 thru November/December, and my reveal gift for SP5, and now the Felted Bags KAL one too) I know some folks have had bad experiences with the secret pal programs but I have been REALLY lucky, I get to send to really nice people, and my secret pals have been EXTREMELY generous to me as well.
Anyway, just a quick post, off to watch SG-1 & BSG with my honey, and work on my Sophie bag. When it is more than a few rows or base, I will get some pics posted, since I am sure you all know quite well what a patch of garter stitch looks like.
Happy Friday everyone!

I just got this in my mail:
Summer may be half over, but there's still 31 days left of our suprise summer sale. Think Manos.
(click the link & scroll to the bottom of the page for the colors on sale)
This is not good. Manos, for 7.80 a skein? OK not a HUGE selection of colors are on sale but this is MANOS! And no, I’m not knitting what’s sitting in my stash right now, but it is MANOS! For $7.80 a skein! (Have I mentioned it is $7.80 a skein?) And Im honestly thinking that Dove and Blush (or even Heather) would look really nice together – as what, who knows? But pretty, whatever it ended up being, Im sure!
My honey just turned around from his computer and laughed – then proceeded to tell me to “Stop looking at the Pr0n” He’s no help, really. Once I told him how much it was, he said “Isn’t that almost like buy one get one free with that stuff?” (He remembered when we came home from our SnB trek to Flying Fingers, Mary and I were stoked we got the Manos for $12/skein)
Want to see rationalizing in action? (stay with me, this could get messy)
I got a gift card for Borders thru one of our credit card reward programs today. I bought one of the Susan Gordon Lymon books with that, so I saved $15 right there. Plus, one of the members of FiberRAOK BookCrossing group said she would lend me the other one (THANKS SO MUCH STEPH!!) So there’s another $15! That’s 4 skeins of the sale Manos, right?
RIGHT?

While discussing books some of us wanted to send out as RAOKs, the idea came up to start a RAOK BookCrossing group. Rebecca took up the cause, and got us rolling – I totally forgot how much I love this idea! If you don’t know what bookcrossing is, or want to know more, just click the button below – it will take you to the site where you can learn more. (and if you are a RAOK member, come join the Yahoo group Rebecca made for us!)
Unfortunately, I couldn’t remember my old account info so I had to make a new one, but no big deal. I’m just happy to be involved again.
Otherwise, SSDD. It was a laid back Sunday, and I’m going to try and get to bed early tonight.
Till tomorrow… (which I just realized is AUGUST 1st already!)
PS – to the person(s) arriving here by searching Google for “Sponge Bob knitting patterns” – I don’t have any here, nor do I think I will ever have any here. Sorry!
